Rhodiola Rosea

Rhodiola Rosea has been used for centuries to cope with the cold climate it grows in and increased the resistance to high-altitude sickness.

Rhodiola Rosea has been shown to make exercise seem easier by enhancing psychophysiological response to exercise performance, essentially people have reported feeling less fatigued when taking Rhodiola and exercising than people who performed the same exercise but unknowingly took a placebo (1)

Rhodiola was shown to improve physical work capacity and improved average examination results for individuals taking high stress examinations with Rhodiola (2).

This herb improves physical endurance. Taking Rhodiola daily was shown to increase the endurance capacity of individuals during an incremental exercise test to volitional exhaustion (3).

The amount of Rhodiola in this formula has been shown to have a clear anti-fatigue effect without any reported adverse reactions or side-effects was shown for individuals undergoing a moderate level of fatigue and stress (4).

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

Ashwagandha is shown to improve strength,  speed and neuro-muscular co-ordination (5)

It is also known to increase strength and muscle gains when used with resistance training compared to a placebo. Ashwagandha supplementation was shown to increase the testosterone levels in muscles and lower levels of cortisol in the muscles both of which are shown to increase muscle ability to gain mass.  Ashwagandha was also shown to decrease recovery time from muscle damage do to resistance training (6).

Ashwagandha was shown to significantly reduce stress and improved vitality, motivation, general health (7).

Ginkgo biloba

Ginkgo Biloba significant improves memory performance and increases speed of attention performance tasks (8)

Ginkgo also improved memory performance and the effects were enhanced when taken in combination with Panax Ginseng (9).

Green Tea (caffeine)

Caffeine and specifically natural caffeine from tea is shown to improve speed and accuracy of performance for attention-switching tasks, reduce susceptibility of distraction and is beneficial for improving performance on cognitively demanding tasks (10).   

Caffeine was also added to Adaptogenics for it’s stimulating and therefore eustress inducing effects.  Though caffeine is not an adaptogen it acts as the stimulating force for the adaptogen in this formula synergistically amplifying the effects of the adaptogens. 

Green Tea was used as the source of the caffeine for its naturally high ratio of L-theanine and the less likely hood of subsequently disrupting sleep (10, 11).

Panax Ginseng

The combination of Panax Ginseng and Ginko biloba  have been shown to provide cognitive performance gains when taken in acute doses (12) and sustained benefits when used over a longer period of time (13)
